Rittenhouse is already one of Philadelphia’s best neighborhoods for coffee, and fall 2026 is bringing even more variety to the area. From a matcha-forward New York favorite to artisan croissants and traditional Yemeni coffee, these five anticipated openings will give residents and visitors new places to meet, work, and recharge between stops around the Square. Opening dates can change as construction and inspections are completed, but here are the Rittenhouse coffee shops currently expected to arrive this season.
1. Blank Street Coffee — 1801 Spruce Street Blank Street Coffee is bringing its recognizable sage-green aesthetic to the corner of 18th and Spruce. The New York–born brand is known for streamlined espresso drinks and a matcha-forward menu that includes creative seasonal flavors. The Rittenhouse location is currently expected to open in early September, making it an easy new stop before a walk through the Square. Learn more about the Rittenhouse opening.
2. Somedays Bakery — 1601 Walnut Street Somedays Bakery is transforming the former Republic Bank space at 16th and Walnut into its first Philadelphia café. The New York–area bakery specializes in hand-laminated, made-on-premise croissants with both sweet and savory flavors, along with coffee and other café staples. The company’s official location page lists a September 2026 opening. Visit Somedays Bakery for updates.
3. KYN Coffee — 1807 Chestnut Street KYN Coffee is a modern, Korean-centric specialty café taking over the former Taylor Chip storefront. Inspired by contemporary Asian café culture, the concept is expected to combine espresso, matcha, thoughtful hospitality, and design-forward interiors. Construction has been underway and the café has been recruiting its opening team, pointing to a debut in the near future. See Center City District’s list of incoming businesses.
4. Jabal Coffee House — 1524–26 Chestnut Street Jabal Coffee House will bring premium Yemeni coffee to a striking two-story space on Chestnut Street. The brand focuses on Yemeni-grown beans, warm spices, teas, pastries, and an elevated café experience. Jabal’s official website lists Philadelphia as coming in fall 2026, although local construction updates suggest the timing may shift. Check Jabal Coffee House for the latest opening information.
5. Haraz Coffee House — 1822 Chestnut Street Haraz Coffee House is planning another Philadelphia location inside the historic Elon Dunbar House. Known for light-roasted Yemeni coffee, spiced beverages, and date-sweetened specialties, Haraz will add another culturally distinctive gathering space to the Rittenhouse café scene. The project originally targeted an opening before fall 2026, but an official date has not yet been announced. Read more about the planned Rittenhouse café.
